I am a failure.
Today, I went to Bruges with my Dad, girlfriend, and the little one. We spent the day scoffing burgers & hotdogs, drinking wine, and tottering around looking at the beautiful scenery via canal boats and horse & carriage.
When we returned home at about 8pm, I was determined to hit Day 4 of Insanity hard. I got my shorts on, and one of my Dad’s football shirts. I think he must collect them because he has about 40 from all different parts of the world he’s visited. I looked great (in my opinion) but I hadn’t a clue which team I was wearing. I later found out it was Sao Paulo. Who knew?
I got straight to it. Now, this is the first time I actually got nervous during an Insanity workout. I got nervous for a VERY good reason. The muscle-bound, super fit machine of an instructor said HE was nervous about the workout. That’s it, that’s all it took.
The Pure Cardio workout (that I was watching) is 37 minutes long, from beginning to end. 16 minutes before the DVD finished, drenched in sweat, I failed for the first time during this experiment, and did not complete it.
Now, I’d love to tell you I had a great reason for not finishing my beach body workout.
But I can’t tell you that.
You wanna know why I didn’t finish? The honest truth?
Here it is :
I didn’t finish because my Dad had ordered Chinese food, and it had arrived at the house. Boxes and boxes of delicious Chinese food had arrived at the house, and I didn’t want to be rude and rock up to the table late.
There it is. I failed, I’m sorry.
Tomorrow, I plan to act as if today never happened and carry on from Day 4. I think it’s for the best.
In the meantime, enjoy a few photos from our day in Bruges. I hope you can forgive me, and I’ll post another update tomorrow.
The little one having her nails painted on the train into Bruges. Blue with yellow dots on one hand, and yellow with blue spots on the other hand. Gangster.
We call this the “instant 5lbs waffle”.
The architecture was beautiful. Look at the building on the left – none of that is gold paint – it’s all solid gold. Same goes for the statues at the top.
My Dad and the little one on the canal boat.
More beautiful architecture. View from the canal boat.
The little one scoffing a hotdog! Om nom nom.
The horse and cart… “driver’ (?) let her borrow her hat for the photo. She was so proud!
Aww, look at us three! Shame about my wonky eye. Damn you wonky eye!!
What a great day 🙂
